Fancy a game of Monopoly?

***Hot off the Press*** We've just heard that our very own Salisbury is due to get its own Monopoly game, but who will you want as your Park Lane?

Great news for local Mudsters – Salisbury’s landmarks are set to be immortalised in the city’s own Monopoly board!

Ever wanted to buy one of the city’s famous landmarks, the cathedral, a cool bar, even Stonehenge? Well, now you can. Seeing off 19 other cities, game maker Winning Moves UK will bring the local area to life with a dedicated board game, in time for Christmas 2020. It means the city’s leading landmarks, including the likes of the Cathedral and Stonehenge, will get to replace the London MONOPOLY classic streets like Mayfair, Oxford Street and Angel, Islington.

But what goes on the board is up to us, as a two-week public vote has been launched to see which of Salisbury’s famous landmarks will get a space in the game. Voting for the Salisbury Monopoly edition has now opened – giving us a chance to pick which of the city’s famous landmarks should appear on the board – as well as ideas for the Community Chest and Chance cards, which will be heavily Salisbury customised.

From being punished for entering Salisbury Guildhall with muddy shoes to attempting to climb the cathedral’s spire, votes are already being cast for what should be included, and the team behind the game already have a few ideas up their sleeves. The board will be themed in sets: from tourism to heritage, culture to shopping, hotels to sport, education to business, and charity to travel.

Ready to vote? Find out more on their Facebook page and then make sure you email your ideas to : (polling closes at 23.59pm on Wednesday 26th February 2020). Alternatively you can write to Salisbury MONOPOLY, Winning Moves UK, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NJ. Polling closes at 23.59pm next Wednesday (26th February 2020).

Ooh I see you have missed off Mark Jones Eye Care from the Monopoly Board option! They have asked to be recognised too. Its an independent family run opticians and has stood in Fisherton street for over a 100 years. Its one of the longest surviving businesses on the street. It has recently expanded to a double fronted building offering hearing care too. Not bad for an independent optician in the days of so many fierce multiples! They have a real boutique style and range of frames for totally handmade in London bespoke Tom Davies to jaunty oh so colourful WooW’s. See the website and reviews plus the Cool Wall of happy customers….
