Born to Parent

Muddy say: We love this fantastic new approach to the classic ante-natal course – you tell them what you need and they’ll do it!

Born to Parent, based in South Wilts, has created a brand new approach to the classic ante-natal course – putting you in charge. You tell them what you want and they’ll do it, with courses covering all the traditional elements while focusing on the areas you’re interested in. No time wasted on things that aren’t relevant here!
Emily Rittner and Georgie Bateman run ante-natal courses across most of the south of England (they will travel anywhere south of the M4, and can be persuaded further north for special clients) as well as post-natal courses covering everything from how to employ help, weaning, sibling rivalry and other parenting support.
The duo pride themselves on their flexibility and love creating bespoke courses. A favourite is the ante-natal “Mummy and Daughter Day” so that the grandmother-to-be can be brought fully up-to-date on the changes in babycare since she had her own children, learning alongside her pregnant daughter. People who have attended this course have remarked on how it strengthened the bond between them during a very special time in both their lives, and how it enabled Grannie to support her daughter in the way she wants.
Book now for their Ante-Natal Weekend Retreat at the Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall on 9-11 Feb. The focus will be on small numbers (about 5 couples) so that you get the core information during the day and in the evenings you can have private one-to-one discussions with Emily or Georgie. There will also be time for blustery walks along the beach (dogs actively encouraged to join you in the hotel and on the beaches ), retail therapy in the village of St Mawes or relaxing spa treatments. The menu is designed specifically for pregnant women and the barman has a series of healthy, non-alcoholic cocktails up his sleeve (probably not literally).

Emily trained with the NCT but has chosen to deliver courses under the Born To Parent banner so that she can give parents all the information they need, without judgement or agenda, and then support them in the informed decisions they make. Her background includes midwifery, maternity nursing, nannying and working as a doula, so she is uniquely placed to advise on labour, birth and post-natal care.

Georgie previously managed Night Nannies in the south of England for nearly 20 years, training the night nannies and maternity nurses in sleep development and delivering courses and workshops to parents on a variety of subjects, drawing on her experience and contacts in the industry.
