Want the superhot goss on a new funky independent boutique selling über-funky, British brands? Here you go then!
Fancy a new, funky, quirky, independent boutique? Gifts to die for, chosen just for you? Stop right there, you discerning lot – we’ve got just the place.
In the heart of Devizes, at No. 59 Northgate Street is gorgeous gaff No. 59
(natch), run by husband and wife team Kevin and Hilly. A smorgasbord (or treasure trove, if you’d rather) of design, kooky and stylish, it’s a magical collection of furniture and ideas, ‘things we would buy for each other,’ they say, although clearly their customers buy it too!
The vibe is young (not too young, mind), sporty and a little bit retro but basically it’s packed with everything that is Muddy and delicious. British brands include Plum and Ashby Candles, Millican Bags and Rachel Jackson Jewellery, plus Rains for both men and women and Fred Perry. There are plenty of funky new labels too, and you can pick up everything from socks to camping manuals to wooden pizza paddles – so you’re all sorted when you’re on the look out for a gift for the person-who-has-everything. Or just shopping for yourself, which is waaaaaay more fun.
On a quirkier note, Kevin and Hilly are all about products with provenance and work with local artisans, be it a wood carver from Melksham or an artist from Tilshead. Enamel crockery, print tea towels, steel watering cans, pop up laundry baskets, doormats with hearts on – you can’t get more off-the-wall (or aesthetically divine) than this little lot.
Pictures speak louder than words, as they say, so I’ll let these beauties speak for themselves…Got that tingly feeling yet? I have!
