Spring School Open Days
Looking for a school? There's no time like the present to book in those school Open Days...Don't sweat it, Muddy's got it covered
Dauntsey’s School, West Lavington, Open Day Saturday 2 May 2020
A co-ed day and boarding school for ages 11-18, with great academics and a truly fantastic extra- and co-curricular programme. Despite not being a heavily selective school, it punches with the heavyweights when it comes to results. A local school with an international flavour, it is friendly and outdoorsy. Oh, and sport is huge! Watch this space for our review. Open Day Saturday 2 May 2020, plus they offer small group tours regularly throughout the year and individual visits can be offered most days – check the website for details
Castle Court, Wimborne
A delightful day school for boys and girls aged 2-13, set in an idyllic 60 acre setting, with a lovely country house at the heart of the school plus woodland to play in, adventure playgrounds and a 17-ft tepee. Tip top sport and music on top of strong academics. The school doesn’t run open days – they are firm believers that every family is unique and when visiting a school, parents and children want to focus on what is important to them. They also like to get to know each family and every child. Individual visits are led by the Headmaster, Luke Gollings, who will show all visiting families what life at Castle Court can offer. Call Admissions Registrar Jane Robson to find out more and book a visit. Oh, and read our review!

The Downs Malvern, Bank Holiday Monday 4 May, 2020
We are particularly impressed by this vibrant day, weekly, flexi- and full-boarding prep. Catering for girls and boys aged 3 – 13 years, it is part of the Malvern College Family of Schools, and set within its own seriously impressive 55-acre campus on the side of the Malvern Hills (quite literally). Big ticks go to their tip-top teaching, and fantastic extra-curricular, boarding and sports facilities, (including a multi-million-pound sports hall, no less). Plus, we have never come across a school that actually has its own miniature railway on site! Built in 1925, the Downs Light Railway gives pupils an amazing opportunity to build, operate and maintain a working steam railway, complete with tunnel, station and points. How fab is that? Find out more at their Open Day on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May, 09-30 – 16.30.

Warminster Prep and Senior School, Warminster
Really one should talk about Warminster School not Warminster Prep and Warminster Senior as it really is a blended entity shepherding boys and girls from age 3 to 18 – but there’s so much to see and say, so we at Muddy took the liberty of two visits and two reviews! Read our review to the Senior School, a co-ed, all-through day and boarding school on the edge of Salisbury Plain that prides itself on nurturing happy, confident and community-spirited pupils here. The Prep, the younger sibling where bright-eyed kids and teachers exude confidence and a love of life, is no less impressive – check out our review.

Muddy loves this all-boys, full-boarding school for pupils aged 13-18, nestled in the gorgeous town of Sherborne in north Dorset and oozing with history and tradition. Founded in 1550, the main school building was a monastery in a previous life, and hushed monastic tones echo throughout the cloisters, quads and stained glass windows galore. Saying that, the school is full of life, with a real sense of community both between the boys themselves and the town they live in. In the meantime, read our Muddy review.
