Castle Farm, Midford

This romantic restaurant in a barn brings you flavours from all over the world, with unusual curries a speciality.

This restaurant in a barn sits just outside Bath on the Wiltshire borders, but feels a million miles from the city. In fact, it really is the kind of unique place that makes leaving town worthwhile.

Fairy lights, candles, mis-matched antiques (and heaters) around an open kitchen make for a cosy setting that is laid-back during the day and positively romantic by night.

Pravin and Leah Nayar took over in June 2018 and really made it their own, with Pravin’s Asian/Scandinavian heritage informing the flavours. The food really is something else. Breakfast is both the usuals: pastries, eggs and more unusual (but recommended) Roti cani with coconut curry. Lunch can be dals, salads (from their own garden), excellent pizzas (from proper pizza oven), great roast on Sunday. Dinner is served on Fridays (curry club) and Saturday (supper club of changing themes) for which booking is most certainly required.

Their popular take-away service looks set to become a permanent feature. Seriously, you won’t believe what comes out of that little kitchen.
