The Cookery School at Daylesford
Muddy says: Want to up your dinner party game, bond with your kids Great British Bake-Off style or just enjoy cooking in the most sublime place ever? Hello Daylesford!
Set in a 2,350-acre organic farm in the oh-so-gorgeous north Cotswolds, The Cookery School at Daylesford sings to tune of seasonal, local and organic produce rustled up in just-right, airy, rustic-meets-modern facilities in which to discover your inner Elizabeth David.
If it’s artisan bread making or nose-to-tail butchery – with all the bits along the way – that you’re after then, then farm founder Carole Bamford’s cookery school has all bases covered to bring an extra twist to your culinary adventures. An array of full and half-day courses and evening dining events delivered by expert tutors are just the thing to get foody with family, friends or the kids, with an emphasis on the conviviality of food and wellbeing.
For those looking to conjure some Gallic charm at home, there are cookery classes in Provençal cooking, for the chargriller in your life there’s a Smoke without Fire course in barbecuing or Cooking over a Fire Pit in the 25 acres of Market Garden, and for teens leaving home, there’s a day-long Flying the Nest: Student Cookery Skills (which the mudlets could do with even before they’ve upped and flown, and eaten house and home). And if yours are still pre-teen, there are budding chef classes which the whole family can take part in (a great way to bond – and start that kitchen delegation). Plus there is a spa and an amazing shop with the most beautiful florist ever, and a fabulous restaurant. In fact, there is so much to enjoy you might fancy making a holiday of it, which is no problem either as there are some gorgeous Cotswold stone cottages you can stay in. Perfecto!
