The Bell, Sapperton

Muddy says: Heads up for this fab country pub, winner of Best Destination Pub in Glos in the Muddy Awards 2019, no less!

Now this is a pub with a difference. Multi award winning (and winner of Best Destination Pub in Gloucestershire in this year’s famous Muddy Awards!), surrounded by picture perfect countryside and set in a gorgeous Cotswold village, The Bell has roaring log fires and cosy corners in the winter and a fab courtyard as well as a garden for summer, with deck chairs, no less. This beautiful gaff is as much a hub for the local community as a rural destination for discerning foodies, wine lovers, real ale enthusiasts and party organisers.

It is the food where the pub really comes into its own, with hearty, traditional fare, whisked up into magic by their head chef – indeed, it is one of The Times’ Top 100 Places To Eat. For starters, think Smoked Duck with Celeriac, Spicy Chicken Wings with Blue Cheese Dressing, and Pan Fried Wild Mushrooms on Toast. Mains include Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie, Duck Leg with White Bean Cassoulet, and Mango Glazed Flat Iron Chicken with Lentil Dahl.

There is a wonderful sense of quirky here too, with vegetables from their garden, ‘Horse Parking’ provided and a Wine Wall, a self-serve wine shop to take away or drink in with your meal.

Having a party? Private Dining is available in the Garden Room or Courtyard, for al fresco parties. They also now offer catering for private and corporate functions, either across the road in the unique ‘Arts & Crafts’ Village Hall or at your home or business.

*NEW FOR SUMMER 2019* Fancy a BBQ or special occasion at the Bell? They can now book private parties on their garden terrace at the front of the pub.
