We’re excited to discover this artisan food and gift shop in Wilton, being slightly obsessed with food and with ways of buying it more soulful than the supermarket. Delightful father and daughter team Andrew and Wendy have created something special here.

Being the only Wiltshire supplier of the full range of Hawkshead Relishes from the Lake District is a good start. There’s an incredible array of award-winning jams (mojito marmalade anyone?), chutneys and sauces (black garlic ketchup is a best-seller), all distinctive and modern in flavour and stylish in packaging. So much so, they make great gifts for the foodie in your life, and are definitely on our Christmas shopping list.

They stock some of the best artisan foods from all over Britain and N.Ireland, including cheese to go with those amazing chutneys: White Lake (try the Bruton Brie) and Green’s of Glastonbury from Somerset, as well as Isle of Wight Blue. Paté and Popti crackers are from Cornish Charcuterie, spectacular Burren Balsamic Vinegar from N.Ireland (they’re the only stockist outside Harrods!), Dorset Spice Shed and so much more. From Wiltshire are super-local Fi’s Amazing Brownies and Magnificent Seed oil (with pleasingly re-fillable option).

Big thumbs up from us for their Little Eco Den, incorporating a refill station. Everything in this area has eco-credentials: did you know Seed & Bean chocolate is wrapped in biodegradable foil made from eucalyptus pulp? There is a dedication across the whole business to minimise plastic and packaging.

And there’s so much more than food! The hand of the multi-talented Wendy is behind some of the crafts, including the bang-on trend macramé hangers (on our Christmas list, if anyone’s interested…). We’re keeping in mind the re-usable make-up wipes (v.now) and scrunchies for teen Christmas stockings. You’ll also find handmade greetings cards, homeware and all sorts of other unique gifts.

We’re loving the look of the hampers. Stylish, eco, wood-effect cardboard with none of that cellophane they usually come with, they’re refreshingly modern looking and un-chintzy. You can have a bespoke hamper made up, and local delivery (to Salisbury, Amesbury, Warminster etc) is free.

On a practical note, The Guild houses lots of other interesting businesses, a great cafe and easy parking and is a perfect stop-off on the way to Salisbury. It’s a beautiful spot too: if you don’t know Wilton, you really should.

Mouthwatering goodies and lovely gifts aside, the USP here is Andrew and Wendy themselves. They clearly take great care in their product selection and a personal pride in customer service. It may sound cheesy (sorry!), but this doesn’t feel like a solely commercial venture, it’s also a local family enterprise with great heart. Go; shop; fill your stockings and be charmed by their passion.
