Muddy says: A huge green thumbs up to this stunning, timeless garden, with tip-top events including outdoor theatre and a pop-up restaurant. Oh, and you can stay over too!

It’s not often that you find gardens with the local community and sustainability firmly at their heart, but we’ve got some right here in the Cotswolds! Lovely and utterly timeless Miserden not only has spectacular views over a deer park and rolling Cotswold hills, but it has been chosen by garden writer Anna Pavord as one of the world’s most romantic gardens, no less. Truly a hidden gem in our fair county.

Designed in the 17th Century, the gardens have stunning flowering beds, yew hedges and an amazing topiary yew walk designed by Edwin Lutyens, as well as fantastic mixed borders of roses, clematis, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Bring the Mudlets to see the ancient mulberry tree, believed to be planted in 1620, and a stone summerhouse built to commemorate the Millennium.

Miserden is a previous winner of the prestigious Historic Houses Garden of the Year, and this year the team are working hard in preparation for spring and summer….which is where we come in. Miserden has loads of super-cool events lined up for 2020 including outdoor theatre and a fab-tastic Pop Up restaurant where top local chefs will cook up a storm in the unique greenhouse environment of The Garden Cafe. As always, we’ll be packing our Muddy Guides with all of the events in plenty of time for you to get your hands on those tix, so keep an eye out!

Miserden Park, Gloucestershire, summer.

And while you’re at Miserden, don’t forget to explore the variety of designated walks through woodland, valleys, farmland and even a lake hidden in the heart of the estate. There is also a lovely Nursery on site with an inspiring range of plants and flowers, plus the café in converted Edwardian glasshouses – definitely worth a snoop and a piece of cake.

Or, and this is *HOT OFF THE PRESS* exciting news, you can now stay on site at the fabulous Miserden Park Flat – a super spacious one bedroom flat in this gorgeous Grade 2* listed Jacobean manor house. The kitchen diner, living room and bedroom all benefit from lovely views and high ceilings, and you even get to visit the Garden at Miserden for free. Book it now!
