A handsome, Grade II* listed, Cotswold building with parts dating from 947AD, The Porch House, in the heart of historic Stow-on-the-Wold, claims to be ‘England’s oldest Inn’. It is also a stylish boutique retreat with restaurant, inn and 13 stylish rooms from £99 a night on a B&B basis.

A light and airy bar with wood-burning stoves and conservatory dining area adjoins the Bar while The Porch House’s architecturally splendid dining room features two very fine 16th Century inglenook fireplaces. A regularly changing, seasonal menu showcasing flavourful, rustic British dishes made using locally-sourced ingredients is available in both dining areas. There is also a private dining room for up to 12 – ideal for shooting parties and family gatherings.

Bedrooms for single, twin and double occupancy come with luxurious bathrooms featuring high-pressure, walk-in showers and/ or slipper baths. Quirky objet sourced at vintage fairs, antique markets and auctions add much to the cool, country vintage vibe throughout.
