The Royal Oak
Muddy says: Heads up for this charming and friendly local free house in the heart of Tetbury. Oh, and they have a fab vegan menu!
Ah, we love this charming pub in the heart of Tetbury. A quaint 18th century gaff, lovingly restored back to the community in 2013, it has a cool saloon bar with upcycled furnishings, cosy booths, an Art Deco piano and vintage jukebox. The fab courtyard and gardens make it family- and dog-friendly, its six en-suite rooms are lovely (I’d plump for Oak Lodge – it’s pretty impressive), and the food is great.
With a restaurant in the rafters, the pub offers stylish dining as well as private rooms for gatherings and celebrations – the seasonal menus showcase organic, free range meat and poultry from local farms, plus organic vegetables from Duchy Home Farm. They also have sustainably sourced fish specials, monthly Meat Free Monday events and even a stand alone vegan menu!
Want to get out and about? The Royal Oak is the perfect place from which to browse the chic boutiques of Tetbury, explore the Cotswolds or go hiking or cycling. Why not visit Highgrove, the National Arboretum at Westonbirt or, for Poldark lovers, atmospheric Chavenage House? Or just hang around The Royal Oak and enjoy all the global foods on offer in the summer months from their fab airstream trailer!
