Let me introduce you to our latest obsession…top-notch grazing boxes. Now hallelujah that socialising is on, but somehow, after a year of watching Netflix in our kecks, the stiffness of dinner parties is a big jump. A chilled bottle, a sunset and a box of delicious surprises to share is just the ticket for now.

The boxes are (very generously) chock-full of exceptional morsels. A selection of British cheeses: Baron Bigod brie was some of the best I’ve tried, a creamy Caerphilly, a shiny round of Black Cow Cheddar. The charcuterie is not your run-of-the-mill, with peppered wild boar, mini chorizos and scrumptious lomo.

So far so delicious. But it’s the accessories that really seal the deal for me: capers, mini gherkins, unbelievably juicy olives the size of a baby’s fist, baby peppers, vine tomatoes, nuts, posh Spanish crackers, crunchy fresh radishes. Oh and the grapes! Where does he get this stuff? Heaven?

Several classy condiments from Tracklements (top marks for inclusion of fave Wiltshire brand), including chilli jam and quince paste, round things off nicely.

Founder Dave Nelson is passionate about artisanal products, and it really shows in the attention to detail. The packaging is spot on, and feels such a treat I’m thinking about who I could send one to as a present. New parents perhaps?  I’m planning one for father’s day (there’s a special one for that) and another for arrival in a holiday cottage – begone that dreary first night trip to the supermarket.

Boxes come in a variety of sizes and themes, and dietary requirements can be catered for. Add on some bread or chocolate and all you need to do is grab the wine from the fridge. Oh hold on, they can do that too…of course they can.

Much as I love entertaining, I sometimes have the revolutionary thought that it should be a night off for me as well…I think I’ve finally found a way.

I defy you to order a box and not feel the thrill of Dave at the doorbell. It’s like dinner as gift!
