The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham opens this Wednesday (13 December) and yours truly will be the very first to get her bum on a seat and review this outpost of The Ivy Collection in Gloucestershire. With its discreet art-deco glamour and British classics, it’s going to be the hottest table in Regency Cheltenham!
Born to Parent
Having your first? Second? Third? Four – no, stop there, crazy lady. Here at Muddy, our noses to the ground as always, have discovered this fab-tastic new company who have created a brand new approach to the classic ante-natal course
– putting you in charge. You tell them what you want, and they’ll do it. Courses cover all the traditional elements but focus on the areas you’re interested in without wasting time on things that aren’t relevant. Apart from tea and biscuits. There will be plenty of tea and biscuits. They’ll do it in your own home, in a hotel, probably in the pub if you ask them and will travel anywhere south of the M4 though I reckon they’ll be persuaded further north if you chuck in a jammy dodger or two. They also offer post-natal courses covering everything from weaning to sibling rivalry, and will create bespoke courses such as ante-natal Mummy and Daughter Day where you get to drag your own mum along to be hauled rudely into twenty-first century babycare. Yep, I could have done with that…
Book now for their Ante-Natal Weekend Retreat at the Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall on 9-11 Feb, which includes one-to-one discussions with leaders Georgie and Emily plus loads of time for blustery walks along the beach, retail therapy in the village of St Mawes and relaxing spa treatments. Um, no baby in sight but can I come?
Party on a Plate
Fast forward a few years to when they’re demanding a party (for everyone in the whole year, Mummy, and can you drive us to Kidzania in Westfield, Mummy)…Fear not! We’ve rummaged up totes cool venture Party on a Plate
who will do the whole shebang for you. The company is only a few weeks old but is already proving to be any parent’s very own Fairy Godmother when it comes to conjuring up your Mudlets’ party essentials. They’ll provide hanging invite, brill party food, the cake and party bags, all to fit your theme. All you need to do is don your magician’s outfit, do your thang and you’re sorted. They’re very kindly (and possibly madly) coming to do my 7-year old’s party in January so I’ll report back then…
The Lotus Retreat, Faringdon
The Lotus Retreat
officially opened in Faringdon yesterday, relocated from Great Coxwell, and it’s a real boon for the quiet South Oxon town, as it includes a lovely boutique (think India – pashminas, silver jewellery and paintings), holistic therapies and yoga studio.
