Open season! Shops, cafés and businesses back in action

Shops have been given the go-ahead and cafés are reopening too (I'll take a flat white and a croissant to go, please). Here's the lowdown for Wilts.

The past couple of months have been a scary and uncertain time for local indies so the announcement that shops can reopen on 15 Jun is brilliant news and a glimmer of hope that life is starting to get back to normal for these small businesses.

I’ve scoured social media to find out which shops, cafés and restaurants are set to reopen (with social distancing measures, of course), but if I’ve missed anyone off please do let me know in the comments below and I will add them to the list pronto.

And now, roll call, please!

Muddy favourite Woolley Grange just outside Bradford on Avon have some VERY exciting plans around their re-opening on 4 July, including the (social distanced) Woolley Country Festival for hotel residents. Make garden pesto with the chef, create flower crowns, learn how to willow weave, design your own mocktail recipe (and then drink the results), have a go at soft archery, toast marshmallows in the copse, or try a kids’ yoga class. It’s the perfect place for a summer staycation with luxury spa, indoor and outdoor pools, tip top restaurant and divine Kids’ Club. You can also now visit Longleat and go on safari, or Canadian Canoes can be hired from the Lock Inn in Bradford on Avon. Woolley We have also teamed up with the award winning adventure company Original Wild to offer paddleboarding, kayaking and climbing guided tours. Woolley is only open for hotel residents at this time.

The Cricklade Club – reopening 28 July. Watch this space for more news!

Luna Boutiques – these four fab stores are all opening this June. Their Marlborough and Newbury stores will be open from mid June, Monday – Saturday 10.30-4.30, their Devizes store will open Wednesday – Saturday 10-4, and the Hungerford store Tuesday – Thursday 10.30-4.30. Check out their gorgeous range of floaty summer dresses, super cool jumpsuits and the latest dude shades. They’re our faves in Wilts.

Luna Marlborough, 139a High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 1HN. Tel:01672 288 901

Luna For You, 5 Old Swan Yard, Devizes, Wiltshire SN10 1AT,. Tel: 01380 721 993

Lucy Tom Interiors – Offering delivery within Sherston Village. They also sell ecover refillables, Who Gives a Crap loo paper, tissues and kitchen roll and lots of craft items for children. Pick up your much-needed daily coffee and cake from their fab outdoor take-away horsebox (dogs and cyclists welcome in their large yard)!

Iris and Olive specialises in lifestyle and luxury gifting, offering thoughtful and beautiful products for everyone.  Nestled in the heart of Warminster high street, the store offers personalised shopping, gift wrapping and our popular gift box combinations, whether it is for a special occasion or a little something to brighten someone’s day.  Unit 2, 1 Market place, Warminster, Wiltshire, BA12 9AY

Under the Stairs – Choose from a fab range of linen tea towels, aprons, table runners, napkins, hob covers and cushions, all in gorgeous bucolic designs, all available online. All creations are made by Lorna at home and she is very aware of hand hygiene during production and packaging – she is currently using Royal Mail to deliver items. Those items that usually require a signature are trackable but do not need to be signed for.

These are all on Zoom and can be booked on easily through their home landing page www.studiozest.co.uk

Sarsens Restaurant – This Marlborough venture is running as a social enterprise for as long as restaurants are shut and the government permits them to do so. The idea is you buy a “ready to cook” meal from them and they will donate one to a food bank/charity/vulnerable person/anyone who needs it. The menu is small and different from their normal offerings. Please support if you can.

Suzanne Ball Jewellery – Open for business for online sales. We love her new collection – these deckchairs are created using thin, hand cut copper strips, and the shells were collected from the beach at St Mawes last summer.

From You To Me – Purchase journals and get the kids to keep a diary during this time.

The Equilibrium Clinic – Hoping to reopen on 4 July, and when they reopen they are offering a 25% discount to all NHS workers as a thank you. You can still purchase Environ and Caudalie skincare, Advanced Nutrition Programme supplements and Jane Iredale make-up from them – they will post products.
