A Kate Moss-approved scarf you can wear in the summer on your neck, head or wrist? Cult brand Rockins sure rocks our world.
We may live in the sticks but, just like Joan Jett, we love rock ‘n’ roll here at Muddy – hell yeah! And fashion brands don’t come much more rock ‘n’ roll than cult scarf brand Rockins.
Launched in 2014 by Jess Morris (Vivienne Westwood’s former PR) and artist Tim Rockins (with a name like that, he was never going to be an accountant, was he?), Rockins specialises in vintage-inspired neck pieces. Their gorgeous painterly, animal/paisley/floral-printed slivers of silk are often spotted nonchalantly wound around the necks of celebrities from the more hedonistic end of the spectrum, including, naturally, Kate Moss.
I bought this beautiful feathers one , which I wear with a black blazer, plain T shirt and jeans, or sometimes tie jauntily around my wrist or handbag handles. They don’t come cheap, with prices from £85, but if you compare one to a necklace, it does the same job of jazzing up a plain outfit. Not least, because it’s so light, you can wear it all year round. I’m also a sucker for the retro packaging as each scarf comes folded up in a cute cassette box. Although I did have to explain to my children that this was how we enjoyed music in ye olden days.
And if you really want to push the rock ‘n’ roll vibes, you could tie it around your head, bandanna-style, in an homage to Keith Richards. Go shopping around Waitrose like that and watch middle England faint in the aisle!
