<p>Larmer Tree Gardens are pretty gorgeous, with all those peacocks wandering about. Head there on Mother’s Day for a full afternoon tea, including cakes, scones and sandwiches (crusts off, of course). Musician Simon Woodley will be tinkling away on the piano too. Widbrook Grange Hotel’s ‘gin country tea’ is a traditional cream tea, with a teapot of the good stuff, straight from their specialist gin bar. You can also plump for a ‘sparkling tea,’ with Prosecco, or simply a three tiered stand loaded with scones, sandwiches and treats like pistachio macaroons. You can even bring your four legged friend and treat him to a ‘doggy tea,’ which includes organic biscuits, a puppichino and a tennis ball to take home. <p>Tea, cake and books is a pretty perfect combination, and Tisbury locals certainly agree. This high street hangout is a huge draw, thanks to its decadent bakes and welcoming atmos. Kick back with a traditional cream tea (£6) or the full monty (£25), a three-tiered stand with dainty finger sandwiches, slices of cake, scones, jam and clotted cream. You’ll find over 25 loose teas to wash it down, and plenty of books to peruse too. Mums who don’t have a sweet tooth should give the savoury cream tea a go – think cheese scone, topped with cream cheese and tomato chutney. Delish!</p>

<p>Stepping into this 16<sup>th</sup> Century tearoom is like hopping back in time. Waiting staff glide around wearing Victorian aprons, homemade cakes are served on dainty bone china and classical music plays in the background. Tuck into the Empire afternoon tea (£34.50), which comes with finger sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, tartlets, cakes and meringue. Or, go for the champagne version, which comes with half a bottle of fizz (£42.50). There’s an adorable version for small people too (£14.75), with a choice of sandwiches, cake and a glass of milkshake.</p>

<p>From the sweeping, tree-lined driveway to the decadent drawing room, Lucknam Park is pretty fabulous. Teatime temptations come perfectly presented on tiered stands, and this is far from your average fare. Think precision-cut crusts, gently warmed scones and the daintiest patisserie. Refreshingly, there are genuinely delicious gluten free options too – just make sure you’re on the ball and book in advance. Full afternoon tea costs £48 per person.</p>

Tea time treats here are delicious – think South Hill Farm egg mayo sarnies, fruity scones and Bowood’s own preserve. This year there’s a Mother’s Day extravaganza too, with live music and an elevated menu. <p>If you’ve got young children, Woolley Grange is a sure-fire winner. Afternoon tea here isn’t all hushed drawing rooms and pristine table manners, it’s about relaxing with the kids. Teas include the usual roster of dainty sandwiches and decadent cakes, plus there’s a special kids’ menu with finger sandwiches cupcakes, veggie crudites and fruit juice. This year there’s a special Mother’s Day version too (£35), but book now as spaces will fly.</p>

<p>This ancient, ivy-clad hotel is a stunner, and its teas are pretty terrific too. Scoff to your heart’s content in Abbey Row Restaurant, which has a gorgeous star studded ceiling, or sink into a velvety seat in the pretty lounge. Afternoon teas (£38) have a modern twist – think Iberico and Manchego croquettes with aioli, and pork gala pies. There are tons of traditional sweet treats too, like chocolate and raspberry macaroons. Kids can get in on the act too, with the Little Angel tea (£15). Think buttermilk scones with Nutella, blackberry frangipane and dinky ham sandwiches. Yum! &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>This canal-side haunt is a firm fave, thanks to its rustic vibe and scrumptious cakes and bakes. It’s run by mother-son duo Anne and John Wyles, who painstakingly source the best produce from the excellent local dairies, bakeries and ice cream parlours. The afternoon tea for two (£36) comes with decadent cakes, scones, lashings of clotted cream and of course a selection of sarnies. After you’ve eaten, roll outside and work it all off with a saunter along the tranquil Kennet and Avon, or over to the nearby white horse at Alton Barnes.</p>

With its wood-panelled walls, sumptuous seats and cosy lounges, this Cotswold hotel is pretty magical. It’s also well known for its fine food – the restaurant, Bybrook, has a coveted Michelin star. Expect tiered cake stands loaded with lavish pastries, fluffy scones and dainty savouries. There’s also an impressive array of leaf teas and bubbles to tempt your tastebuds. Expect prosecco, dainty sandwiches, mini patisserie and scones loaded with clotted cream. Oh, and a pot plant for mum!</p>
