  • Cornwall Weekender: A Muddy Guide to Bude

Bude is the north coast surf town where Cornwall begins and although it’s only just a hop over the Devon border, it has everything that’s good about the Duchy in spades. Woof! The idiot’s guide to owning a dog

I’ve been flirting with the idea of getting a family dog for a while but am absolutely clueless when it comes to pets – up until now I’ve only just about managed to look after my three rabid children, let alone any extra household creatures. But April is National Pet Month so it seems a timely moment to investigate the realities of acquiring a four-legged friend. (I’ve heard rumours that they don’t answer back and you don’t have to take them to swimming lessons – where do I sign up?) Muddy Chief-Ed Hero spoke to The Doggy Hotel & Bakery‘s Emily Cooper, a Stokenchurch-based ‘doggy au pair’ (that’s how she describes her job title) to get the low-down on all things canine. And, voila, here’s Emily’s foolproof guide for novice dog owners. Woof!

    Wiltshire Summer Festival Guide

The music festival season is getting closer (will we fit into our Daisy Dukes? Are we too old to be wearing them?) and we all know that you’ve got to flash the cash super early these days if you don’t want to flog a kidney in order to buy full price tickets. Glastonbury went in a flash, Reading is half gone and even the Cambridge Folk Fest is sold out on the Saturday. The good news is that there are tons of funky festivals closer to home that, phew, still have some tickets left. While we mourn the loss of the achingly hip Larmer Tree Festival (it’s taking a snooze this year), grab your Dubarrys, pimp up the VW van and join us on the trail of loads of (mostly) family friendly festivals across Wilts…
