<p><a href="https://www.therattlebone.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Rattlebone Inn</a> is your classic, cosy country pub – think wooden beams, leather armchairs and locals sharing camembert and Prosecco by the roaring fire. We also adore <a href="https://www.angel-sherston.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Angel</a>, a 17<sup>th</sup> Century coaching inn turned café. It’s a guaranteed crowd pleaser, with an excellent brunch and lunch menu. The fabulous <a href="https://www.oldbellhotel.co.uk/">Old Bell Hotel</a> is just five miles up the road in pretty Malmesbury, while a smidge further takes you to The Potting Shed and Rectory Hotel. Chef Jake Simpson recently took up residence here, after his tenure at London’s Bocca Di Lupo. Closer to home, in the hamlet of Knockdown, you’ll also find the award-winning Holford Arms.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-shop">SHOP</h2>



<p>In true Cotswold style, even the Co-Op is pretty here. It’s housed in an old stone schoolhouse, alongside the post-office and a few indies. Alternatively, head to<a href="https://bfshop.webflow.io/"> Bridgman’s</a> Farm Shop and Deli, where you’ll find lashings of locally sourced fresh fruit, veg and meat. Keen to spruce up your décor? At the gorgeous<a href="http://www.lucytom.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Lucy Tom Interiors</a>, you’ll find everything from cushions to gifts and a café. Nearby Tetbury and Malmesbury have you covered for pretty much everything else, including a plethora of indies, antique shops and a sizeable Waitrose.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This corner of Wilts is positive brimming with wellness, from Friday night fitness sessions to Ashtanga yoga and several weekly Pilates classes in the village hall. There’s even a local Nordic walking group, to help you make the most of the stunning countryside. There’s tons of sociable sport on offer too, whether that’s the netball club (Sherston Shooters) cycling club (Sherston Velo), cricket, football or tennis.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p>Each July the village turns out in force to celebrate the annual boules festival. Think music, kids’ entertainment, a duck race and of course a few hotly contested rounds of boules. This a biggie in the local calendar, with bunting strewn across the streets, stalls and a fab atmosphere. It’s not all about boules though, far from it. There’s forest school for the kids in the holidays and autumn is celebrated with Apple Day, when hordes of local families turn out to pick, and press, local apples. The Rattlebone’s New Year fancy dress parties are pretty legendary too.</p>

<p>For a luxe spa and Michelin dining, head down the road to <a href="https://wilts.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/whatley-manor-hotel-spa/">Whatley Manor Hotel</a>. Hot tubs and high teas aside, their seasonal workshops and classes are hugely popular too. Badminton horse trials is a huge draw every May, and the beautiful city of Bath is just 19 miles away. Of course, Sherston is also a mere four miles from royalty too. Every year King Charles’ Highgrove Estate opens for garden tours, with the added allure of a champagne cream tea.</p>

<p>For theatre, take a trip to Bath or Swindon (both around 30 mins). There’s also tons going on closer to home, including open air cinema and live concerts at nearby Westonbirt Arboretum (two miles away). Recent acts include Sting, Bryan Adams, Nile Rodgers and Anne-Marie. WOMAD festival is also a hot ticket, thanks to its family-friendly vibe and stellar line-up of world music.</p>
