Westbury White Horse, Longleat Estate, Shearwater, Stourhead and Cranborne Chase AONB are all on the doorstep, making this area a haven for outdoorsy types. Residents are fiercely proud of their town, and for good reason. It offers a strong community vibe, charming countryside and easy access to nearby Bath and Salisbury. You’ll find excellent schools too, and one of the best parks in the area. &nbsp;</p>

<p>You’ll certainly be well fed here. Nearby La Campagna does a mean pizza, and is a hugely popular choice for all things Italian – you can order takeaway too. For a funky feel, head to <a href="http://www.theoldfirestation1905.co.uk/">The Old Fire Station</a>, where diners spill out of the big red folding doors onto the sun-splashed pavement in summer. If you’re hankering after a cocktail, start your weekend at the funky <a href="https://www.facebook.com/thebostonshakerbar/">Boston Shaker</a>, which is tucked away in the old prison cells under the town hall. Think exposed brickwork, rustic timbers and some cracking cocktails. Cake more your thing? Plant-filled <a href="https://www.facebook.com/tastedeliwarminster/?locale=en_GB">Taste Deli</a> is known for its delicious homemade bakes – try the coffee and pear sponge, or tuck into an open sandwich.</p>

<p>This little town punches above its weight on the shopping front, and has its own seasonal independent market. <p>Warminster’s main park, Lake Pleasure Gardens, is brilliant for all ages. You’ll a pretty lake for boating, pitch and putt golf, tennis courts and a skatepark. There’s even a splash zone, which is buzzing on sunny days. For adrenaline junkies, <a href="https://www.b1ke.com/b1keparks/wind-hill/">Wind Hill</a> has earned legendary status amongst the mountain biking community.</p>

With a drive-through safari, adventure playground, zoo, boat trips and train rides, we’d defy anyone not to fill a day. There’s plenty for adults too, including cream teams and a trip around the (ginormous) house.</p>



<p>Climb nearby Cley Hill for a panoramic views over Wiltshire, or head up the famous White Horse at Westbury. Poised high on the rolling downs, it makes a fab spot for a blustery walk. A short hop in the car takes you to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/stourhead">Stourhead</a>, a stunning National Trust estate with beautiful lakeside walks.</p>

<p>Local Grade II-listed theatre <a href="https://www.theath.org.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Athenaeum</a> is something of an unsung hero. You’ll find plays, music and regular film nights too. Warminster also holds a number of great events throughout the calendar year, including music in the park and the annual Spring in the Park. Keep tabs on Warminster School too, which often hosts al fresco cinema nights in the summer months. Nearby Longleat also hosts some stellar seaonal events, including a mesmerising Christmas light show.</p>

<p>The train station is on the Wessex main line, with regular trains to Bristol, Cardiff and London Waterloo which takes around 2 hrs, or drive to London in 2 hrs 30 mins.</p>
