Hesdin, Chapmanslade

These ultra-luxe holiday homes a stone’s throw from Bath boast statement swimming pools, quirky decor and entertainment galore. Ideal for your blowout birthday bash, girls’ get-together or family holiday to remember.

Buckle your seatbelts – Muddy’s found Wiltshire’s most glamorous holiday homes and we’re headed there tout de suite!

A lockdown project of property gurus Jim Jenner and Laurie Nichol, over 2020 they gussied up a dilapidated, crumbling estate into three seriously swish holiday homes – with a fourth incoming! No dull copy-and-paste decor here – Laurie put her signature interiors stamp on the whole of Hesdin, and now each property is packed to the rafters with statement pools, quirky art, games rooms, top-spec facilities and cocktail bars and disco balls a-plenty. Plus, with Bath a stone’s throw away and alpacas, chickens and goats all roaming the Estate there’s loads to do here for the whole family – if you can tear yourself away from your accommodation, that is. Can’t bear to leave? Hesdin’s got private chefs and spa therapists on speeddial to create your perfect home-from-home, and an ideal setting for that luxe birthday bash, girls’ get-together or family break the kids’ll never forget.

So, which to choose?

HESDIN HALL

The OG! The main house on the estate, Hesdin Hall sleeps up to 18 people in 8 en-suite bedrooms, with 6 extra beds available for a small charge. There’s loads to explore in this Georgian farmhouse, including a games room with pool table, table tennis, air hockey, arcades and an Xbox (that’ll keep the teens happy then!), adults-only cocktail parlour The Weird Room, and an enormous kitchen for whipping up an entertaining feast – after all, you do have a mammoth 10m long dining table to serve it on. Outside there’s the heated pool – which is toasty warm throughout the year if you’re considering a Christmas break – with hot tub and sauna, as well as an outdoor kitchen, year-round firepit and BBQ.

THE CORN CRIB

Just feast your eyes on that iconic swimming pool! You can fit up to 30 of your nearest and dearest into The Corn Crib – and there’s more than enough to keep them entertained, thanks to the spa-level hot tub and sauna set-up, a barbecue kitchen, roof terrace bar, and massive vaulted games area with resident pink sheep.

PIGERTONS

Our favourite thing about Pigertons is clearly the Muddy pink kitchen (imagine the cocktail soirées in that!), but there’s something for everyone in this 6-bedder. Kids will lose their minds over the TV wall – there are seven screens and SIXTEEN Xbox controllers – and there’s a pool table, table football and air hockey if you need a break from screen time. Step outside for the IG-fodder heated pool with bubble jets and a screen built in, as well as a barbecue, pizza oven, fire-pit and roof terrace seating for the ultimate in dining alfresco.

HAYHO HOUSE

New kid on the block Hayho House is already open for bookings, and you can make it your own from August 2023. This 6-bedroom upside-down house boasts yet another incredible swimming pool – an indoor, underground number with hot tub and sauna with a rooftop view of the stars. Outside, you’ve got the fairy-lit courtyard with outdoor kitchen year round fire-pit and BBQ, and if you prefer dining inside, spread yourself out across the open-plan kitchen-dining area with its chic pink kitchen and statement chandeliers.

Can’t choose? Oh well, we’ll just have to try all of them…
