River Bourne Community Farm
A big thumbs up for Wiltshire’s only free to visit community farm, perfect for a Mudlet day out
Here at Muddy we are always looking for fabulous days out, especially ones perfect for little Muddies, and you can do no better in Wilts than the fabulous River Bourne Community Farm. Wiltshire’s only FREE to visit community farm (just what we like to hear), it sits prettily on the edge of Salisbury by the River Bourne, overlooking stunning water meadows.
Visit the farmyard with its impressive range of animals, including birds of prey and rare breeds, and then hunker down in the cosy cafe that serves hot and cold snacks and lunches, cakes and drinks. There is also a farm shop on site, selling a range of local produce including the farm’s own free-range eggs and farm-reared pork and lamb. But River Bourne is so much more than a day out – it was established to educate young people, and serve the local community by providing volunteering opportunities. It also hosts regular events for everyone to enjoy – check out their website for the latest fabulous workshops and festivals. And of course, there are some great walks and nature trails around the farm – download leaflets or collect them from the farm cafe.
Getting hitched? The Big Barn can be hired out for weddings and celebrations, plus they host Children’s Birthday Parties in the Straw-Bale Room which can include a farm tour and tractor trailer ride.
