Tetbury Goods Shed

Muddy says: We love this fab local arts centre, packed with cinema, exhibitions, music and workshops

Check out the wealth of classes, cinema and music at the Goods Shed. We love this part volunteer-run arts centre, converted in 2016 from a former Great Western Railway building, and then opening in the spring of 2017 having received generous support from Tetbury Town Council, the general public and regional donors. It is now is a local haven for cinema, music, Open Mic Sundays, workshops for kids and grown ups alike, and much more – a true regional centre of arts excellence.

The Goods Shed provides arts and entertainment in an iconic building that doubles as a community hub, with popular events covering the full spectrum of music styles including jazz, classical, rock and choral events; the spoken word in the form of poetry, readings and informative talks and discussions;  craft workshops for adults and children; and rotating exhibitions of art. At the heart of the Goods Shed vision is an ambition to encourage and capitalise on local talent whilst also showcasing performances by artists, authors and speakers from further afield.

For little ones, we love Summer Circus School with School of Larks on 29 July and 1 Aug. A fun and challenging way to spend the summer, they’ll learn new and amazing circus skills they never thought they could do, including tightrope, juggling, walking globe, hula hooping, balancing, spinning plates, group floor acrobatics and more. Oh, and don’t forget the Whistle Stop Cafe, a local, cosy cafe serving delicious food! Open from 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Sunday, the café welcomes residents, visitors and tourists, dog walkers, cyclists, passers-by, parents and grandparents and anyone else attracted to Tetbury’s historic Victorian Goods Shed. Perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch, choose from gorgeous home made cakes, great coffee and owner Sasha’s delicious dishes. Yum!

***HOT OFF THE PRESS*** The Whistle Stop Cafe is now an official Park Run cafe, with the Tetbury Park Run starting and finishing right outside. To accommodate this, they now open at 9am on Saturdays and, with all the runners popping in, it might be best to avoid coming for brunch before 10.30am!
