The Cricklade Club, North Wiltshire
A unique and laid-back cafe in North Wiltshire that prioritises top quality local suppliers and specialises in hearty brunches, with a changing weekend supper menu.
This isn’t just any old cafe, it’s a “social kitchen and living room bar” in the centre of the North Wiltshire town of Cricklade. Happily, this ambition to mix it up extends to the food, from hearty brunches (pancakes, scrambled eggs), homemade cakes and pies to Ottolenghi-inspired lunchtime salads and a changing menu of weekend suppers. Culinary influences can be detected from the Mediterranean and America, and indeed the interior has a certain relaxed Californian vibe, furnished with a pleasing hotch-potch of vintage finds.
They are proud of their suppliers, with much of the produce coming from their own local organic farm in Purton. With around ten craft beers and over 20 different gins, and bread from The Sourdough Revolution to mop it up, grab a table while you can. Their outdoor space will certainly be in great demand this summer.
Combine a visit with a walk; Cricklade is an ancient Saxon settlement surrounded by marshes and meadows where stunning snake’s head fritillaries can be found around in April and May.
