Why: This is a thrilling murder mystery set in the world of publishing, so it&#8217;s no surprise that we love this at Devizes Books. When the manuscript of a debut crime novel arrives at a Parisian publishing house, everyone in the readers&#8217; room is convinced it&#8217;s something special. But when the shortlist is announced, there&#8217;s a problem for editor who has no idea of the author&#8217;s identity. There is a series of murders strangely reminiscent of those recounted in the book.



Why: The plot blends mystery with comedy to great effect, keeps you guessing right to the end

Why: It&#8217;s a revelatory vision of life, death, reading a bit like an episode of Call The Midwife set during a pandemic!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">I thought I knew you by Penny Hancock</h2>



What: Psychological fiction full of mystery.&nbsp; Two best friends since university have their friendship tested to breaking point when confessions appear unbelievable &#8211; will their friendship survive or be destroyed forever?! 



Why: An easy read tackling some sensitive issues that really tests the bond of a long friendship and a scenario every woman can relate to &#8211; do you believe your child or your bestie?&nbsp;&nbsp; Great twist at the end too.&nbsp;&nbsp; Not a long book so a quick read ideal for an end of summer read.

Why: This is a story about good and evil and how life is lived somewhere in between. Thirty years ago, Vincent King became a killer. When he&#8217;s released from prison not everyone is pleased to see him. Like Star Radley, his ex-girlfriend, and sister of the girl he killed. 



Why: Murder, revenge, retribution.Great plot, slow burning story&nbsp;with characters you never ever forget..
