Wiltshire half term guide: fun things for all ages
And just like that, it’s almost half term. Whether you’ve got teens or toddlers, here’s how to keep them busy

OUTDOOR PLAY: Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots at Cerney House and Gardens, Mon & Weds from 2 Feb
Not specifically for half term, but this launches in Feb and will be running throughout half term, so seemed worth including! Roots, Shoots & Muddy Boots is a brand new outdoor child-led imaginative play session located on the grounds of Cerney House Gardens, with mud, paint, water and sand play. You can take a stroll about the pretty grounds post-play – keep an eye out for snowdrops!
WORKSHOP: Creative Careers @ Salisbury Playhouse, 15 Feb
This half-day workshop invites key stage 4&5 people to get hands-on experience in the performing arts industry, giving an insight into the production process.
It’s an ideal into to the industry for budding stage managers, people interested in lighting and sound, costumes and producing.
FUN ON THE FARM: Mini Farmers at Roves Farm, 19-27 Feb

There’s all sorts going on at Roves Farm near Swindon this half term. From tractor rides to egg collecting, animal feeding to goat and sheep walking, there’s plenty to keep little animal-lovers busy.
ANIMALS: Goat Walks at Hope Nature Centre, Trowbridge, 19-27 Feb
Join Hope Nature Centre’s friendly goats for a stroll around the grounds, before feeding and grooming them.

MUSIC: Come & Sing Workshop with Wiltshire Youth Choir, Salisbury Playhouse, 21 Feb
For anyone who enjoys a good old sing-sing, this two hour session is one to book in for. Open for people aged 12-18 and hosted by pro choir leaders, the workshop will explore music from all genres.
MUSIC: Get Creative – Make Music! White Room Studio, Salisbury Arts Centre, 23 Feb
For music-loved aged 7 to 11, this 2 hour session invites youngsters to get to grips with instruments – no prior experience necessary.
FILM: Ron’s Gone Wrong, Pound Arts Centre, Corsham, 24 Feb
This animated film tells the tale of Barney and his robot best friend Ron, who malfunctions teaching them both the importance of true friendship. Before the film there’s a fun robot making workshop for children, for them to make their own mate.
CRAFT: Craft with Wiltshire Scrapstore, Salisbury Arts Centre, 24 Feb
Children aged 4 to 7 are invited to get crafty with Wiltshire Scrapstore in this 45 minute session, designed to develop their creativity, creating masterpieces from unexpected materials.
THEATRE: Tweedy’s Lost Property, Pound Arts Centre, Corsham, 25 Feb
Who remembers last year when the government advised people in the arts retrain? In this play, clown Tweedy follows the guidance and retrains in a lost property office, with predictably hilarious consequence.
GET TOGETHER: Shift Social, Salisbury Arts Centre, 26 Feb
Teens are invited to an evening of live music, played with promising young musicians from Salisbury. The Shift Social is organised by a group of 14 to 21 year olds, to help teens meet new friends in a fun and safe environment.
OUTDOORS: Westonbirt Arboretum, througout half term
Westonbirt Arboretum is always a great visit in half term. Kids can run around like crazy things in the open air whilst you take a lovely stroll. Adults entry to the Arboretum is £7 and kids £3. Under 5s go free too. Keep checking in for special activities to book into nearer the time. Kids scooters and bikes all welcome.
FLOWERS: Snowdrop hunting, throughout Feb
