2022 planner: Unmissable local events for your diary

After two somewhat iffy years, 2022 is set to be a blinder! Here are the best 2022 events Wiltshire has to offer for your best year ever!

LIVE MUSIC: Ibiza Orchestra Live, Swindon Meca, 5 February 2022

Transport yourself to Ibiza without even leaving the county with this impressive event. A 26 piece orchestra descends on Swindon’s Meca, playing the best in house and club music, accompanied by mesmerising lasers and lighting. Book now, from £22.50.

FOOD: Sausage and Cider festival, Swindon Meca, 12 March 2022

What better way to kick off BBQ season than at a bangers bonanza? There will be 15 different sausages to try, alongside 25 craft ciders (don’t tell Muddy Somerset we’re encroaching on their cider territory…) Tickets from £10, book now.

FAMILY FUN: Giffords Circus, Bowood House, 28 April to 3 May 2022

Hugh Grant once said that Giffords Circus is the most fun you can have in a tent, and we’re inclined to agree. The shows are always captivating and this year, rumour has it the whole spectacle will have a Mexican theme, which we’re fully on board with. Book tickets.

ARTS: Salisbury International Arts Festival, 27 May – 19 June 2022

The schedules for this festival hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re already buzzing with excitement about it. The theme for this year’s festivel is our love of islands (think Robinson Crusoe and Desert Island Discs) and will comprise of everything from music and theatre, to film, dance, spoken word and visual arts with family and free events in the mix too. Stand by for more info as we get it!

FESTIVAL: Pimms in the Park, Faringdon Park, Swindon, 2 – 5 June 2022

In honour of the Queen’s platinum jubilee, this free festival offers everything from live music and entertainment, to scrummy street food and a funfair. Plus lots and lots of Pimms. Find out more.

LIVE MUSIC: Jess Glynne at Westonbirt Arboretum, 12 June 2022

We’re borrowing this one from our friends at Muddy Stilettos Glos, because it’s just minutes over the border and we *love* Jess Glynne. We can think of nowhere we’d rather be (Jess fans will get the pun…) than watching one of our favourite singers among Westonbirt’s glorious trees. Tickets are priced from £44.50.

LIVE MUSIC: Classic Ibiza, Bowood House, 22 and 23 July 2022

If you’re missing your annual trips to the Balearics (we know we’re not the only ones) this is *almost* the same. The grounds of Bowood are transformed into the super club of our dreams with classic dance bangers reinterpreted by the Urban Soul Orchestra. The evening begins with a chilled out set (think sun down drinks at a clifftop beach bar) before building into sets of soul-lifting anthems. If the sun is shining, you can almost imagine you’re on the white island…

FESTIVAL: WOMAD Festival 2022, Charlton Park, 28 – 31 July 2022

This year is WOMAD’s 40th anniversary, so expect big things! As well as the incredible array of diverse music, there will be workshops led by artists, food cooked by musicians, talks, dance, physics and activities for kids. Tickets are going fast this year with everyone clamouring for WOMAD after a two year break – we’re expecting the best atmosphere ever!

FESTIVAL: MFor Festival 2022, Lydiard Park, Swindon 30 July 2022

After a roaring success last year, MFor festival is back for 2022, with Craig David and Sigala headlining. Get ready to dance the night away in the grounds of one of Wiltshire’s prettiest stately homes. To get you in the festival spirit, there’s also a warm up event on Friday 29 with Space and The Happy Mondays playing. From £13.50.

THEATRE: The Da Vinci Code, Wyvern Theatre Swindon, 24 – 29 October

If you were hooked on Dan Brown’s novels, you’ll be excited to learn that the stage adaptation of his book The Da Vinci Code (which is the best-selling novel of this century!) is coming to Wiltshire, starring former Eastenders actor Nigel Harman. We predict a sell out! Book now, from £29.50
