<p>This 15th Century stunner offers fab food and character by the bucketload. Inside, you&#8217;ll find a warren of cosy nooks, beamed ceilings and fireplaces &#8211; perfect for hunkering down after a chilly dog walk. Head there for the weekday fixed lunch menu and you&#8217;ll pay just £21 for three courses (available in Jan). </p>

<p>He’s the doyen of seafood, but you don’t need to break the bank to experience one of Rick Stein’s fishy feasts. Until 26 Jan, you can enjoy three courses for £23.50 at his&nbsp;<a href="https://rickstein.com/rick-stein-marlborough-set-menu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Marlborough restaurant</a> <em>and</em> support a good cause. It&#8217;s all part of their charity set lunch initiative &#8211; diners pay a £2.50 donation and the proceeds go to Prospect Hospice. Coley with spring onion mash and soy butter sauce? Yes please.  </p>

<p>With its elegantly outlandish décor and incredible food, Malmesbury’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.oldbellhotel.co.uk/eat-drink/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Old Bell</a>&nbsp;is one of our fave haunts. The kitchen here is headed up by the talented Daniel Kerr, and the food is sublime. Better still, the <a href="https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/websites-wordpress-uploads/oldbellhotel.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/LUNCH-updated-2-DEC-2024.pdf?fm=pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">set lunch</a> comes in at a  bargainous £25 for three courses. Did someone say cured trout, and confit chicken leg with truffle mash? Yes they did.</p>

<p>With its honey-hued stone, Georgian frontage and sprawling grounds, you half expect Mr Darcy to come striding over the lawns at Bishopstrow. It’s quintessentially English, and tons of the restaurant ingredients come direct from the glorious no-dig kitchen garden. Uber posh nosh and private dining are an option, but Monday-Friday there’s also a tempting <a href="https://www.bishopstrowhotel.com/media/4sipe3rh/set-lunch.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">set lunch menu</a>&nbsp;at the Garden Grill – a snip at £32 for three courses. Expect dishes like cured Scottish salmon, braised Wiltshire pork and west country cheeses.</p>

<p>Take the afternoon off and nip to the pretty village of Langley Burrell just outside Chippenham. <a href="https://www.langleytap.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Langley Tap</a> is a popular haunt, and from 10 Jan it&#8217;ll be offering a weekday light lunch fixed price menu. You can bag two courses for £17, or three for £21. You&#8217;ll find a great mix of pub classics and elevated dishes at this lovely local &#8211; think warming soups with homemade bread, and Brixham battered cod. </p>

Our fave has to be No. 7, a banging combo of pepperoni and chilli honey. </p>

<p>Ok, so this isn&#8217;t a cheap eat, but it&#8217;s well worth it if you&#8217;re looking for a new year treat. With a triple AA Rosette to its name and high praise in the Michelin Guide, this pretty thatched pub in&nbsp;<a href="https://wilts.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/best-restaurant-wilts-the-red-lion-east-chisenbury/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">East Chisenbury</a>&nbsp;is pretty spesh. For £75 you get a whopping five courses, including baked halibut and Wiltshire chateaubriand. Yum. </p>

<p>This postcard-pretty pub in Ford is right on the river and bang in the midst of prime walking country. Head there for a midweek lunch before 31 Jan and you&#8217;ll find two courses for £18, or three for £22. With minute steak, mussels and sticky toffee pud all on the menu, it sounds pretty epic. </p>
