Overtown Manor, Wroughton, Wiltshire
A chic country stay with epic breakfasts, elegant rooms and an outdoor pool – plus cookery classes, retreats and corporate away days

A former Muddy Award winner for Best Boutique Stay, Overtown Manor is the kind of country bolthole that does it all. Nestled near the North Wessex Downs, this elegant 17th-century farmhouse offers chic B&B rooms, whole-house stays, hands-on cookery classes, restorative retreats and polished corporate away days – all with Nancy’s warm hospitality at the helm.
The house sits in five acres of gardens and farmland, with big views and a kitchen garden that supplies the table. Nancy, a trained cook, is the fourth generation to live here and opened the house as a bed and breakfast in 2010. It’s very much a case of heritage bones meet modern comfort, with Frank the ever-vigilant Jack Russell keeping friendly tabs on comings and goings. Expect elegant reception rooms with roaring log fires, ensuite bedrooms and a pool that’s heated for summer dips (it’s also open September and October for cold-water swims if you’re brave). Whole-house hire adds a games room (table tennis, pool, darts) and plenty of space to spread out.
Bedrooms (six in total; five ensuite, one with a private bathroom) are elegant and oh-so-comfy, while mornings bring Nancy’s AGA mastery to the fore. Think homemade granola, banana bread, jams and a proper Wiltshire breakfast.
Planning an off-site business meeting, or fancy picking up some new kitchen skills? The dining room flips into a smart meeting space for corporate events, and Nancy’s regular cookery classes cover everything from Christmas entertaining to midweek suppers and canapes. If you’re feeling in need of a reset, you’ll find seasonal wellness events too, including yoga, running and detox retreats.
Dogs are also welcome, there’s EV charging and you’re just seven minutes from the M4.
