In the mood for a piece of cracking theatre action? Head to Salisbury Playhouse, for Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic spy thriller, The 39 Steps. Salisbury. This Olivier and Tony Award-winning comedy had an impressive 10-year run in the West End, and now it’s back on tour. It sees four talented actors play over 150 characters – not sure how that works, but it clearly does! Here&#8217;s a sneak peek at the cast in rehearsals, above. Strictly sensation Chris is back on the comedy circuit with his show Yonks. This time he’s heading to Swindon on 17th Feb (and back on 30 May if you can’t make Feb). Amy Mason brings her stand up show, Free Mason, to The Pound in Corsham on 7 Feb. If you love National Theatre Live, pop to The Pound on 20 Feb. Olivier Award-winner Sharon D Clarke and Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who; Sex Education) star in a joyful reimagining of The Importance of Being Earnest. Prefer a darker drama? Head to Wiltshire Music Centre on 8 Feb, for a screening of Macbeth, filmed live at the Donmar Warehouse. David Tennant and Cush Jumbo lead a stellar cast in this 5-star production. Head to<a href="https://www.festivaloftomorrow.com/the-festival/whats-on/gaia-at-steam/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> STEAM</a> in Swindon this half term, for a chance to gawp at Luke Jerram’s Gaia. This incredible six-metre installation is a great chance to see the earth floating in three-dimensions. It&#8217;s really pretty magical. 



Inspired? You’ll also find Luke Jerram’s Helios just over the border, at <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/bath-bristol/bath-assembly-rooms/events/f54dd7b3-75d3-48f4-885b-4b45c753cd07" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bath Assembly Rooms</a>. Helios is billed as an audio-visual wonder, thanks to its rippling lights and sounds recorded by NASA. It’s certainly impressive.



Artist Annette de Mestreis is the current star of the show at Messums, and we highly recommend taking a peek (until 24 Feb). De Mestre is best known for her dark-hewed, intensely spiritual paintings in oil and mixed media. Her work will be shown alongside sculptures by Hugo Colville, in a show inspired by their home in rural West Wales. Fancy a night of toe-tapping tunes? On 22 Feb, Kanda Bongo Man comes to Bradford on Avon. Expect high tenor vocals, a 9-piece band, energetic dancers and a giant of African music. <a href="https://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/event/kanda-bongo-man/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tickets</a> from £13.



For something a little bit different, head to Salisbury Cathedral on 14 Feb. Conductor Edward Rimmer will be joined by 8 singers and instrumentalists, to celebrate Henry Purcell by candlelight. Fancy flexing your artistic muscles? The Little Pottery Painting Co in Royal Wootton Bassett is treating us to a series of workshops and masterclasses this Feb. You’ll paint a vase, then fill it with your posy. The Festival of Tomorrow heads to Swindon this month, and it’s packed with over 150 (mostly free) events to intrigue young minds. Choose from <a href="https://www.festivaloftomorrow.com/the-festival/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">bubble workshop</a>s, STEM-inspired <a href="https://www.festivaloftomorrow.com/the-festival/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">comedy acts</a>, <a href="https://www.festivaloftomorrow.com/the-festival/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">insect collage</a> workshops and an immersive <a href="https://www.festivaloftomorrow.com/the-festival/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">piano concert</a> from Charlie Hooper-Williams, one of the developers of Shazam. You’ll find mind-blowing <a href="https://www.festivaloftomorrow.com/the-festival/whats-on/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">science shows</a> too and intriguing talks, including a deep-dive under the Antarctic.



In need of a pick-me-up? Swindon’s first <a href="https://www.steam-museum.org.uk/event/swindon-wellbeing-festival/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wellbeing festival</a> kicks off at STEAM on 8 Feb, and it’s remarkably good value (£17). You’ll find breathwork, yoga, dance meditation, sound baths and even a spot of martial arts. There are talks too, on everything from hypnotherapy to trauma, reflexology and back care. Keen to try your hand at printing? Wiltshire based artist and print-maker <a href="https://www.hannahcantellowstudio.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hannah Cantellow</a> is running a small-group workshop at her Devizes studio on 16 Feb. You’ll learn how to create a woodcut, and print your own artwork. Interiors inspo here we come! You’ll learn how to make your own bouquet, under the watchful guidance of <a href="https://www.instagram.com/little.rituals.flowers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Isabelle Mulvany</a>, co-owner of Little Rituals in Bradford on Avon. Head to Glove Factory Studios on the evening of 12th February, for a talk on cold water immersion, followed by a guided swim under the Snow Moon. Feeling green fingered? Great Chalfield opens its gates on 16 Feb for its annual snowdrop day. Head there for a chance to take a peek around the oh-so-pretty gardens, and raise cash for Dorothy House in the process. Fancy some more snowdrop action? Westcroft Garden near Salisbury is home to a whopping 400 varieties of snowdrop, and owner Lyn Miles – a self-confessed ‘snowdrop nut’ – is throwing open her gates on selected days over the next few weeks. Alongside the carpets of white you’ll find homemade soups, biscuits and hot drinks, plus bulbs to buy. The magical gardens at Iford Manor don’t officially open until later in the season, but there’s a chance to admire the snowdrops on 27 Feb. On 12 Feb, Whatley Manor executive chef Ricki Weston and his team will be showcasing their talents to a handful of guests, with a five-course menu (£120). You’ll be seated around the open kitchen, which means you’re right in the thick of the action. For any foodies out there, this promises to be pretty epic – think Orkney scallop, lobster ravioli and venison with black truffle. Yum!



The seasonal supper clubs at Wild Herb Café are always a sell-out, so it’s a case of fastest fingers first. The winter Fire &amp; Feast is set for 14th Feb &#8211; expect drinks by the fire pit, followed by lavish starters, mains and desserts, all served as sharing platters overlooking fields and lakes. Dishes have yet to be revealed, but previous platters include gin and tonic cured salmon with lemon and borage, BBQ chicken and rice pudding with roasted rhubarb and dulce de leche.
