The 39 Steps, now on at Salisbury Playhouse, is a hot ticket this March. The Olivier and Tony Award-winning comedy had an impressive 10-year run in the West End, and now it’s back on tour. It sees four talented actors play over 150 characters – not sure how that works, but it clearly does! It’s on until 8 March, tickets <a href="https://www.wiltshirecreative.co.uk/events/the-39-steps" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>.



It&#8217;s all systems go at the Wyvern Theatre this March. If you’re a fan of Strictly, get your sequins on and shimmy down there on 24th, when ballroom legends Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu will be strutting their stuff. <a href="https://trafalgartickets.com/wyvern-theatre-swindon/en-GB/event/other/an-evening-with-anton-du-beke-and-friends-tickets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tickets</a> start at £28 but hurry, they’re going faster than a foxtrot. 



More of a Swiftie? If you didn’t bag tickets to see the real deal, Katy Ellis brings her tribute act to the Wyvern on 2 and 31 March. Expect powerful vocals, along with a live band, dancers and some fabulous costumes. 



Legend alert! The literary phenomenon that is Kate Mosse is coming to Salisbury Playhouse on 21 March. Part of her highly-anticipated theatre tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of her global hit&nbsp;Labyrinth, the dramatic and immersive one-woman show deep dives into the novel, taking fans from the Languedoc to the Pyrenees, whilst sharing the secrets behind her writing. If you haven’t seen the Scummy Mummies live tour, it’s a hard recommend from us. The comedy duo, Helen Thorn and Ellie Gibson, are guaranteed to have you in stitches. From menopause to mansplaining, teenagers to Tinder, no subject is safe. Iain Stirling – the iconic voice of Love Island ­– is bringing his new stand-up gig, Relevant, to Swindon on 19th March. He’s a BAFTA winner for a reason and we cannot wait. Melksham Assembly Rooms transforms into a comedy goldmine on 7 March, with a live show from Three TV comics. Mock the Week star Seann Walsh is set to headline, with Glen Moore and Jack Skipper also making us LOL. Art please! It’s sculpture season at <a href="https://www.messums.org/exhibitions/contemplate/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Messums</a>, in Tisbury. Things kick off on 8th March with a retrospective of Nicola Hicks MBE, one of the most significant British sculptors of the 21st century. You’ll find over 30 works from Hicks, who has exhibited all over the world. 



Over at Wildling Studio near Calne, there’s a chance to get creative with a spring <a href="https://www.wildlingstudio.co.uk/workshops-1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wreath making session</a> on 26th March (£65). You’ll create a gorgeous, wreath, bursting with moss, succulents and spring bulbs like Muscari and Narcissi. Oh, and your front door will be Insta-worthy of course.



Fancy learning the art of linocut? Printmaker Hannah Cantellow will show you the ropes in her six week beginner’s class, starting 25th March at her studio in Rowde. It runs on Tuesday evenings and comes in at £145 for six sessions, which is great value in our book. How about combining painting and floristry. <a href="https://www.thelittlepotterypaintingco.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Little Pottery Painting Co</a> in Royal Wootton Basset is running an evening of vase painting and bouquet making on 20th March (£49). Lottie from Wild Thoughts Floristry will show you how to arrange your flowers, while the pottery pros will pass on their tips and tricks. Blooming marvellous!

If you&#8217;re after a leg-stretcher without any pesky hills, how about the Castle Combe sprint duathlon? It may be a qualifier for the duathlon world championships, but don’t let that put you off. The organisers promise it’s suitable for novices too, and it sounds like a great shout for anyone who loves being on a bike. You’ll kick off with a 5K run on the race track, before doing seven laps by pedal power (20.5K). Finish off with a final 3K run, then it’s onto the finish (red carpet style, natch). One for the kids (or big kids). Bradford on Avon’s annual pancake race is hotly contested, and this year’s (4th March) promises to be bigger and better than ever. Watch at 11am as competitors furiously race across the town’s famous bridge, flipping their pancakes as they go. Afterwards, hot foot it to Muddy fave <a href="https://timbrellsyard.com/eat-and-drink" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Timbrell’s Yard</a>, where you’ll find a stonking kids menu. For some fluffy fun, take the kids over to Lackham near Lacock, where lambing is full steam ahead. Watch the ewes with their new lambs and, if you get lucky, you might see a woolly one being born. There’s tons of other entertainment for small people, including bird of prey displays, milking, farming machinery and small animals to ogle at. Petrolhead in the family? Earn some serious brownie points, with a day of adrenalin-fuelled fun at <a href="https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/spring-action-day-2024/">Castle Combe Circuit</a> on 29 March. Show season begins with drifting demos, club displays and there are 15-minute track sessions too (get set for the sound of roaring engines and shredding tyres!). Tickets £22, under 16s go free if they’re with an adult.

Timbrell’s Yard celebrates its 10th birthday on 27 March, and there’s a culinary treat in store. Expect four courses, created by head chef Rob, exec chef Tom and James, who cooks at sister site At The Chapel, in Bruton. Tony Casey, of Bunch of Grapes fame is also getting in the mix. Whatley Manor’s restaurant, The Dining Room, rightly retained its Michelin twinkler this year, and head chef Ricki Weston will be showcasing his skills to just 16 guests on 19th March. You’ll be seated around the open kitchen in the Green Room, watching as Ricki and his team cook and plate a five-course feast in front of you. It’s a pretty epic chance to see a talented team in action, and you’ll get to fire the odd question at them too. If you haven’t sampled Iford Manor’s restaurant, then get your name down quick for one of their Friday night supper clubs. You’ll find the next five-course feasts on 24th and 28th March. Expect a tasting menu from award-winning Head Chef, Matthew Briddon and his team. For £70 per person, enjoy a welcome glass on arrival and soak in the live music as you dine on treats like confit pollock, cucumber mooli, wasabi yoghurt and pickled cauliflower.



Lacock&#8217;s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DBZPrjPMH-s/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sign of The Angel </a>&nbsp;is set to throw its next supper club on 20th March. This is a traditional communal supper, with everyone sitting around one long, candlelit table. Previous themes include shellfish and game (not together), while this month sees a five-course homage to spring (£49).Yum!
