<p>It’s National Yorkshire Pudding Day, which feels like the perfect excuse to talk Sunday roasts. And luckily you don&#8217;t have to lift a finger in the kitchen, because when it comes to lavish lunches, Wiltshire delivers in spades. From cosy country pubs to destination dining rooms, here’s where to find the best Sunday roasts in Wiltshire.</p>

<p>Sundays are a BIG deal at Forage, thanks to chef Ben&#8217;s legendary roast lunches. Choose from sirloin, lemon and thyme chicken, locally sourced pork loin or a seasonal nut roast for the veggies amongst us. Expect lashings of veg, oozy caulflower gratin (a must) and gravy, plus ginormous Yorkies to round things off. Forage is always packed, so make sure you book ahead. And come hungry! </p>

<p>This gem, in the Insta-worthy village of Castle Combe, has just earned a place in the Estrella Damm Top 100 Gastropubs, and for good reason. Headed up by chef James Boniface, the kitchen creates a mouth-watering selection of traditional gastro dishes with a focus on seasonal produce. The Sunday roasts are, of course, divine. Think slow cooked belly of local pork, roast Dexter beef with yorkies and slow roast lamb shoulder with mint sauce. It&#8217;s all dished up with veg, beef fat roasties, gravy and an array of mouthwatering sides. We&#8217;re in! </p>

<p>Fancy spending the afternoon sipping on a glass of red by a roaring fire? Head to The Wellesley Arms, a cosy country inn with a contemporary twist. Think leaded windows and parquet floors, teamed with bold Emma Shipley wallpaper. With its divine roasts, this place begs to be your Sunday afternoon stop-off. Choose from chicken, locally reared pork or beef, plus all the trimmings. The cauliflower and leeks in cheese sauce is not to be missed! There’s a veggie option too, plus four-legged friends are welcome to join in the fun – they ask that you let them know when you book.</p>

<p>Teetering on the edge of the Fonthill Estate is this gorgeous gastropub which serves all the country fayre you&#8217;d expect &#8211; including excellent roasts. Choose from West End Farm roast loin of pork with crackling or Stokes Marsh Farm sirloin with horseradish, both of which come with greens, roasties, chantenay carrots, beetroot, cauliflower cheese, yorkies and gravy. Phew! If all that food leaves you wanting a snooze, follow it up with a Beck-spresso martini &#8211; a heady mix of Beckford rum, Kaluha and coffee. </p>

<p>This popular Lacock haunt is a game of two halves. In summer, the sun-drenched garden is awash with diners soaking up the panoramic views. Come cooler weather, hungry walkers and roast lovers descend on the pub&#8217;s cosy interior, where they tuck into fully loaded plates by the fireside. Portions are generous, the meat is divine (we recommend the venison) and the cauliflower cheese is an absolute must. If you&#8217;ve room, round things off with a dollop of ice cream, fresh from Lacock Dairy down the road. </p>

<p>Weave your way along the quiet lanes from Calne, and you’ll find this honey-hued haunt, teetering high above Wiltshire’s rolling fields. Owners Beth and Richard are passionate about sourcing local produce. Fresh fruit and veg comes from local supplier V&amp;P Collins, pork shoulder hails from Seend and their beef sirloin and lamb are home reared on the family farm, a hop across the field. Roasts come with yorkies, roast potatoes, parsnips, gravy and seasonal veg. Hungry for more? Top it up with a bowl of cauliflower cheese, or sausage and sage stuffing. Delish!</p>

<p>The Great Bustard earns consistently fab reviews, thanks to its oh-so-stylish décor and top notch food. Choose from the restaurant, with its vast floor-to-ceiling windows and pretty views, or the cosy pub. With its wingback chairs and roaring fire, this is the perfect spot for wellies and waggy tails. Sunday roast is taken seriously here – you can expect all the trimmings (and then some), plus small plates to get you started. Ingredients are local and impeccably sourced, with pigeon breast and lamb hailing from the Great Durnford Estate, and the beef from a farm just down the road. </p>

<p>With its red brick exterior, cosy interior and flawless food, the Three Daggers exudes all the character you’d want from a quintessential English boozer. This relaxed pub is perched high on Wiltshire&#8217;s rolling downs, with walks aplenty from the doorstep. Come chillier weather, you&#8217;ll find a roaring double-sided woodburner and slap-up lunches, including roast porchetta with caramelised apple sauce, and striploin of beef with horseradish cream. Another big bonus is the adjacent village playground, where kids can burn off steam while you wait for the chef to work his magic. </p>

<p>The Duke Hotel has made a name for its innovative menu, but there&#8217;s no messing when it comes to the Sunday roasts. Think slow-cooked lamb shoulder, sous-vide lamb rump, dry-aged Lackham beef and roast pork loin wrapped in bacon. All ingredients are locally sourced from Wiltshire, plus you&#8217;ll get a generous jug of gravy, Yorkies, buttered seasonal greens, maple-glazed roots and crispy roasties. Before you get stuck in, sink into a leather Chesterfield by the bar, with one of Brandon’s exceedingly quaffable cocktails in hand. Bliss. </p>
