<p>Longleat has jumped headline into carnival mode this month. Alongside the safari, you&#8217;ll find classic funfair rides over the bank holiday weekend, including a helter-skelter and carousel, plus the chance for kids to learn circus skills. Now’s also your chance to meet the two new resident hippos, Matylda and Manon, too. Better still, kids’ entry is 25% off in August.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-theatre-bin-rat-corsham-almshouses">THEATRE: <strong>Bin Rat, Corsham Almshouses</strong></h2>



<p>Younger kids will love The Last Baguette Theatre Co’s production of Bin Rat. Expect a fun, feral family show with their trademark zany style and a fair bit of disco dancing. <p>Laurence Edwards is internationally recognised for his incredible sculpture, which has transformed venues ranging from Blenheim Palace and to Sydney National Art Gallery. Until the end of September you can see it for yourself, at  <a href="https://www.messums.org/exhibitions-west/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Messums</a> in Tisbury. </p>

<p>Adventure Cinema hits Salisbury over the bank holiday weekend, when it takes up residence at the cathedral. Celebrate Jane Austen with <em>Pride and Prejudice</em> on 25<sup>th</sup> August, or a magical showing of <em>Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone</em> on 26<sup>th</sup>. Prefer to belt out a few show tunes? There’s a <strong><em>Wicked Sing-A-Long</em></strong> on Wednesday 27<sup>th</sup>. <p>Looking to entertain ankle biters over the bank holiday weekend? Head to Swindon’s <a href="https://trafalgartickets.com/wyvern-theatre-swindon/en-GB/event/family/in-the-night-garden-live-tickets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wyvern Theatre</a> on 23<sup>rd</sup> and 24<sup>th</sup> August, when you’ll catch Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka in action. Expect full-size costumes, magical puppets, plenty of music and a flying visit from the Pinky Ponk.</p>

<p>For an August bank holiday bonanza, head over to Glove Factory Studios in Holt. On 25, you’ll find feasting around the lakes with a BBQ and live DJ. Combine it with a stroll around the village’s scarecrow trial, which draws a crowd every year. The theme for 2025 is ‘famous duos’ and you’ll find over 60 entries to get to grips with.</p>

<p>Everyone’s fave circus is back atMarlborough Common from 21st August until 1<sup>st</sup> September, with a new dazzling and daring array of acts. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-outdoor-10k-trail-run-stourhead">OUTDOOR: <strong>10K trail run, Stourhead</strong></h2>



<p>Burn off some of that summer ice cream, with Stourhead’s <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/wiltshire/stourhead/events/69b6df84-0199-4cf0-ae5f-057d3a6b09ef" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">10K trail run</a> on 24<sup>th</sup> August. It’s free to enter and takes you on a challenging, multi-terrain jog (or sprint if you’re keen) through fields and woodland. Things kick off at 9am, with registration at 8.30am.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-festival-carfest-laverstoke-park-farm">FESTIVAL: <strong>CarFest, Laverstoke Park Farm</strong></h2>

<p>Border hop south for the fantastic&nbsp;<a href="https://carfest.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">CarFest</a>&nbsp;at Laverstoke Park Farm&nbsp;(22 – 24 Aug)&nbsp;– a rocking festival that supports children’s charities across the UK. It&nbsp;may sound like a souped-up car show but it’s actually seven festivals in one family weekend extravaganza. Hosted by Chris Evans, you can still ogle over fancy cars then, sing and dance your heart out with the likes of Sam Ryder, Travis, and Rita Ora.</p>

<p>Children need to burn off steam? Whisk them to Stourhead, where you’ll find tons of <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/wiltshire/stourhead/events/5f098dff-fb22-4ed5-9671-c0b0f45a706c" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Summer of Play</a>&nbsp;events. Circus performers from BigTopMania will be there, and kids can learn how to tightrope or slackline, ride a unicycle and spin plates. There’s an archery range and meadow maze too. It’s all included in your entry ticket, or National Trust membership.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-outdoor-climbing-and-crafts-lacock">OUTDOOR: <strong>Climbing and crafts, Lacock</strong></h2>



<p>Lacock is also getting in on the action, with no less than five themed play areas. You’ll find a climbing wall there 22-25 August, plus craft workshops courtesy of Wiltshire Scrapstore.</p>
