Upgrade your pad and cosy up for Autumn after the long, hot summer – in unique, retro style

Rural Somerset. Not the first place you’d think of as a design hub. But that’s exactly what it will be in a few week’s time, when over 50 of the UK’s top decorative antiques and Mid-Century dealers descend on the Haynes International Motor Museum at Sparkford, near Yeovil.

You’ll unearth eclectic, unusual, and downright fun, vintage furniture, mirrors, lamps, artworks, jewellery and handbags, ranging in price from under £100 to, well, quite a lot more.

After the hottest summer in living memory, why not revamp your pad and hunker down for the Autumn, with some of this stuff…

Hang out. Don’t think Swedish I B Argberg’s iconic 1970s design was in La Cage aux Folles but it is a birdcage chair.

Snuggle up. One end for you; one end for me and room for a little one in the middle on this 1985 Italian sofa designed by Jonathan de Pas, Donato D Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi.

Turn on the lights. No home’s complete without the king of fruits, a pineapple or two,  is it?  Loving this pair, carved out of wood, some time in the last century.
