Planning a kids’ party? AAAAARRGHHHHHH!

Yup, it can be a nightmare. Sandwiches for 30, party bags, you were up until 2am finishing the cake and now you’ve forgotten the candles. Well, panic ye not, because we have only gone and found someone who’ll do all the whole blooming lot for you!
Brand new and super cool Party on a Plate is every parent’s very own Fairy Godmother (well, they were certainly mine last Sunday for my 7 year old’s very particular Slimey Science Party  – got to have slime experiments, got to have a green Ghostbuster’s cake), and will conjure up your party essentials including invitations, ALL party food, cake, party bags and even a pack with tablecloths, napkins, plates, matches and everything you’ll need to clean up with afterwards. All you need to do is hire the entertainer and venue, or alternatively don your magician’s outfit and do your thang.
Lovely owner of Party On A Plate Elisabeth Benson wanted us to have the VIP treatment and so she hand delivered our party package, food and cake (having sent over the coolest party invitations a few weeks ago – sweets in a test tube to fit the science theme!), although the packaging she uses means even cheese sandwiches can be delivered 24 hours in advance and kept perfectly fresh. Everything was themed perfectly for our science party, with Scientists Treats (jelly in petri-dishes), Brain Food (the healthy stuff) and even a Taste Test, which the Mudlets loved.
Honestly, I was blown away. The party was the easiest I’d ever attempted (it was on a hangover and Mr Muddy disappeared because, y’know, who’d want to hang around for their youngest’s party?) and it took out every morsel of pain on the planning/preparing/baking side. I didn’t even have to shop for Haribo for the party bags. I booked Dragon’s Den-tastic Sublime Science to inspire the Mudlets, but actually going with Party on a Plate means you don’t need an entertainer. A better, more adventurous mother than I could actually throw together some old-fashioned party games (ideas soon to be coming to Party On A Plate’s website) and return to the good ‘ole days of not spending a month’s mortgage on face painters and Disney characters.

Cake was pretty good too, eh?

Other options include a Chocolate Party (with a chocolate fountain. Yes please, thank you very much), Traditional Party, Fairy Party and Princess Party, although knowing Elisabeth I bet you could ask for anything and she’d magic it up.
Party On A Plate is based in Salisbury and covers Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and further afield into most of the south of England – although once Elisabeth sources the perfect courier to deliver these gob-smacking cakes (and she is on the case, she assures me), she will expand towards total World Domination. Watch this space!
